Taking care of your skin is so much more than simply washing your face, or throwing on a moisturizer once in a blue moon. It can be daunting to face a line of products sitting on your bathroom sink, trying to figure out which one to use first, when, and why. Time to start pampering your skin with a full skin care routine, both morning and evening.
But how to make sure that your 5 minutes of effort are actually paying off? Brand founder Susie Wang has utilized certified organic ingredients to create a simple skin care ritual, that will leave your skin looking radiant and feeling fabulous. We know it’s called a skincare routine, but we like to call ours a special pamper ritual. Follow along as we break down the order in which to use the full line of Puristry organic skin care products to gain maximum benefits for skin!
We start our ritual off with cleansing the face, to make sure we remove all the dirt, debris, and bacteria from our beautiful faces. We need to create a clean and clear base, before we can start treating our skin with emollient products that lock nutrients into the skin.
The most important thing is to avoid cleansers that contain skin stripping ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfates. These ingredients are often included in conventional cleansers with the purpose of cutting grease, but are far too harsh for skin.
Our Puristry Nopal Cactus Cleanser contains a high dose of antioxidants and phytochemicals that help to fight off free radicals, along with tons of hydration from the star ingredient, nopal cactus. This nopal-packed formula will leave you with glowing skin that’s hydrated and nourished, rather than stripped and dry.
How to apply facial cleanser:
Wet face. Pump out quarter sized amount of cleanser onto wet hands to create lather, then massage into skin. Rinse. This cleanser is gentle enough to be used around the delicate eye area, and can be used AM and PM.
Toning skin after cleansing is essential for removing any leftover residue, debris, or make up. It also helps to balance the pH levels of the skin. If the skin is not brought back to a normal pH, it can become more prone to breakouts and dryness. Using an organic facial toner can help to prep the skin for absorption of nutrients, and allows the other products in your ritual to function at their maximum potential.
Another benefit is that it delivers hydration to the skin, which is beneficial for any and all skin types. Our Flower Water Toner contains pH balancing honeysuckle extract, a purifying essential oil blend, anti-aging rose hydrosol, and calendula hydrosol for a healthy supply of carotenoids and vitamin A.
How to apply toner:
Dispense onto cotton pad until saturated, then sweep onto face and neck after cleansing. Or, pump out directly onto clean hands, patting gently onto face and neck.
PRO TIP: Allow toner to air dry on skin before moving to step 3.
A good organic facial serum is like the vitamin supplement you’d take after a meal. Serums are generally water based or oil based, and are made with smaller molecules than a moisturizer so they’re able to deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin.
Our Vine Therapy Serum aids in protecting the skin from both intrinsic and extrinsic stressors that contribute to fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to its powerful concentration of grapes and algae, which are rich in essential antioxidants.
How to apply serum:
Apply a quarter sized amount onto fingertips. Gently massage into facial skin, eye area, and neck. Can be used AM and PM.
Face oils are amazing assets to add to your skin care ritual, since they aid in both moisturizing and creating a protective barrier for the skin. Dry skin types lacking in oil will benefit from using facial oil to help instill lipids back into the skin. Those with oily skin can also benefit from the elements of a good organic facial oil to counteract the “bad” oils in their skin.
Our Restorative Facial Oil is made from unrefined and cold pressed ingredients. It contains a blend of 10 wonderfully nourishing plant and seed oils to help prevent signs of aging, deter breakouts, minimize scarring and dark spots, and of course to moisturize and firm dry or crepey skin.
A good general rule is to apply your products from thinnest to thickest, so stick to applying your facial oil after your serum.
How to apply facial oil:
Apply a quarter to half dollar sized amount onto fingertips, then rub into palms. Use palms and fingertips to massage gently into face and neck.
We put our eye cream on first because it’s tailor-made for the delicate skin of the eye area. Did you know that the pores in the eye area are smaller than the pores on the rest of your face? A regular moisturizer often has larger molecules, therefore it cannot penetrate well into the skin of the eye area.
Our eye cream is formulated with smaller molecules made specifically for the eye area. Our Yerba Mate Eye Cream helps to reduce morning puffiness and dark circles thanks to its natural caffeine content, and offers long term moisturizing and skin firming benefits from being worn nightly (when skin is in its reparative prime).
How to apply eye cream:
Pump a pea sized amount onto ring fingers and apply all over the eye area. This includes sides, under eyes, and eyelids.
PRO TIP: Applying with your ring fingers is proven to put less pressure on your delicate eye skin, therefore reducing your risk of the tugging or pulling that can cause increased appearance of wrinkles.
Daily moisturizing helps to prevent dry, tight feeling skin. A moisturiser with organic and natural ingredients will also minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Did you know that dry skin is more likely to reveal fine lines? This happens when your skin cannot provide enough of its own built in moisturizer (which causes the skin to appear smoother and more youthful), so skin becomes more prone to creasing due to a lack of moisture and elasticity.
Our Seaberry Moisturizer is beneficial for skin thanks to its high content of seaberries, which naturally contain a ton of incredible properties for aiding in skin ailments like aging skin, dull or lackluster skin, sensitive skin, and even acne prone skin.
How to apply facial moisturizer:
Apply a quarter to half dollar sized amount to fingertips, then massage gently into skin of face and neck. Can be used AM and PM.
